Producer note
Same island, different microclimate
Our Red Borneo comes from trees growing in the inland corridor east of Putussibau, a drier, more elevation-sheltered microclimate than our coastal parcels. The leaves mature a little slower, with a slightly more linear alkaloid profile.
Drying follows the same sun-rack protocol as Sumatra Red, but the shorter rainy window here means batches finish faster and more evenly. Moisture consistency is typically tighter on Borneo Red than any other red in the catalogue.
For the end market
How your customers position it
Borneo Red is usually shelved next to Sumatra Red as a "regional alternative": same category, slightly different character. Customers who use red daily often rotate between the two.
Pairs well in variety bundles with Sumatra Red as a "taste the difference" tier. Private-label 50g / 100g pouches are the standard, encapsulated 500mg for the evening line.
Quality assurance
Independent lab testing available
Each strain can be tested through an independent Indonesian laboratory for heavy metals, microbiological contamination (TPC, yeast/mould, Salmonella, E. coli), and alkaloid quantification. Ask us for the cost per lab test when placing your order.
